People to People

Jim Lindsay, a former Australian diplomat, and Pamela Collett, his spouse, have lived and worked in many countries during the past twelve years including Venezuela, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Kenya, Somalia and Uganda. In these countries they have had the privilege of knowing some very dedicated and committed people who are working for peace and social justice.

Responding to recent requests from friends in the USA, Jim and Pamela have decided to share information about some of the groups with whom they are working. They both believe that this "people to people" approach is one of the best ways to narrow the gap between the so-called "developed" and "developing" countries throughout the world. People of good will wherever they live can reach out and help other people working for peace and human rights throughout the world.

Because Jim and Pamela have been living in East Africa for the past five years, they have more current direct contact with community based groups in Somalia, Kenya and Uganda.

They have decided to write up one page about a current need of some of these groups, with one photo and a budget for a specific project and share it with others.

A small amount of money, from US 0 to US 00 can make a big difference when used by the right people in the appropriate program. Jim and Pamela are in contact with such people and are reaching out to contact other people who want to help. All of the money will go directly to the project as described. Nothing will be wasted.

In this time of heightened insecurity and tension throughout much of the world, we feel it is more important than ever to show love and compassion for other people who are trying to make a difference. We think that a "people to people" approach can help build peace throughout the world.

Please share this information with your friends, family, neighbors, colleagues, community groups, women's groups, church, mosque or synagogue.

We hope you can help. We will keep posting different people to people projects as we come into contact with people doing good work on a small, community based scale. We will also post the results of any money received.

Please contact us by email and we will provide information about the best way to transfer funds.

Thank you for your interest. Your suggestions and feedback are welcome. Email address: mukinduri@bigfoot.com.

Sincerely,

Jim Lindsay and Pamela Collett
