How to preserve the environment

Uganda's population is rapidly increasing which is threatening the environment.

Today many Ugandans are cutting down trees to get poles for building houses. They are also clearing out forests to grow crops. Unless some thing is done immidiately Uganda is likely to face problems of climate change in years to come. However this problem can be minimised in the following ways:

• Use of earthbricks. This will stop people from cutting down the living trees for poles.
• Improved methods of farming so that people stop clearing large pieces of land for subsistance farming.
• Encouraging people to plant more trees.
